mission trip 2022

july 2-9, 2022

Alamosa, Colorado

You're invited to join us on our youth mission trip to Alamosa, Colorado July 2nd - 9th, 2022.

In Alamosa, you’ll experience the beauty of the mountains but also learn about the struggle of rural life in Southern Colorado. With one of the worst unemployment rates in Colorado, rural poverty is felt throughout the San Luis Valley. Our group will come alongside existing organizations to meet on-going needs, including working in gardens to meet food needs, doing home repair projects, and running a kids club for elementary-aged kids in this community. During the evenings, we'll learn more from a community speaker about what the community is doing to serve the under-served, explore the natural beauty of this area, and visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

We are partnering with YouthWorks, who are actively working to identify community engagement and service opportunities in consideration of COVID. The cost of the trip is $275, which includes everything you'll need on the trip. A $50 deposit is due February 15. Total payment (the remaining $225) is due April 30. Adult leaders are free, and we are asking them to sign up so we can make sure to abide by Safe Sanctuary.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact Kate Hanch: khanch@firststcharlesumc.org.
